Testimonials

"Ms. Spector exudes a genuine interest in helping children succeed in school and does so in a very positive, loving, and encouraging way.  As a parent, Ms. Spector has also provided me many hours of her valuable time to share her assessment of my son's strengths and difficulties and educate me on how these relate to his learning differences.  Her willingness to even go the extra mile to conference with his teachers to better his instruction at school exemplifies Ms. Spector's true passion for wanting to help children succeed.  The positive effect she has had on my son has also provided me with much encouragement that he can and will succeed in anything he pursues."

"Thank you so much for speaking to our adoptive parents last night. The information you provided was excellent - and so very needed! The evaluations were extremely positive and I know the parents appreciated the opportunity to discuss their concerns with someone who understands."

"Annette Spector at Diagnostic & Educational Resources, Inc, has been invaluable in my journey to guide my learning disabled 8th grade son. I first entered her office in the spring of his second grade. She guided me to seek an evaluation from a behavioral optometrist. This allowed my son's reading grade to jump 1.5 yrs in only a few weeks because we found that he some visual processing problems that could be addressed with glasses and eye training exercises.

After his progress had reached yet another plateau several months later, she suggested that he be evaluated to auditory processing as well. He made amazing strides after completed the evaluation and 4 week intensive treatment at a center that she recommended. Her intervention allowed remediation of some of his visual and auditory processing problems.

Three years later when he was in 5th grade, she helped me pick a private school for a 14 months period where again he worked on further remediating and learning some compensations for his disabilities. With her help, I fought Fairfax County to get him special services so that he could come back to his peers, as he requested as a 6th grader, at his community public school. When some social, emotional issues arose as an adolescent trying to fit into 8th grade, she was able to help him adjust to his role as an LD student in a public school.

All along, I had complete faith in her professional judgment. She always had the solution to the problems which I lost sleep over. I knew then, as I know now, and I will know in the future, that if ever I need help in the area of my son's education, Annette Spector will be the one I will call. She is an asset to her profession."
