Case Management Approach

Our Case Management Approach helps parents to:

  • Identify priority areas which need to be addressed.
  • Coordinate services of other professionals working with the family.
  • Pinpoint problem areas by early identification.
  • Become successful partners with teachers and communicate effectively with school staff.
  • Become familiar with special education laws and procedures.
  • Develop profiles and records organized by strengths and relative weakness.

During the initial consultation, our educational specialists will discuss with you the student's educational, developmental, medical, and social history, along with current parent and teacher concerns. Parents are encouraged to bring school, medical, private testing and evaluation records to this meeting. Based on these discussions and information, the best course of action will be identified, which might include: setting up school meetings, testing, tutoring, changing school placement, determining eligibility for special education or gifted services, or counseling.

At the end of the initial consultation, we will advise parents as to what course of action needs to be taken. If testing is recommended, appointments can be scheduled immediately. If tutoring is recommended, arrangements will be made within two or three days. If school observations are required, arrangements will be made directly with the child's school. If consultations are recommended with other professionals, referrals are made.
